About

Who We Are

A Maine-based advisory firm with a national rural practice

Wintergreen helps rural and community hospitals, Rural Health Clinics, and the state offices and networks that support them do more with less. Our team is made up of current and former hospital and clinic operators: CFOs, COOs, administrators and clinical leaders who have held the roles they now advise on.

We keep things simple: help rural providers focus on the basics, like patient care and financial performance, that sustain their mission.

Rural organizations run on scarce resources and are often treated as underdogs. We see them differently. They have untapped potential to be real healthcare innovators, and they carry a unique responsibility as the bedrock of their communities.

  • Innovation-driven solutions built for rural realities
  • A customized approach for every hospital, clinic and network
  • Superior, hands-on client service through implementation
Our Values

Built on rural values

Collaboration, simplicity and practicality are how rural communities get things done. They are how we work, too.

Collaboration

We work side by side with your leadership team and with the state and national partners who support rural care. Our advisors extend your team rather than hand you a binder and leave.

Simplicity

We distill opportunities into a small set of clear, actionable goals that set priorities and direction, without a lengthy report that sits on a shelf.

Practicality

Every recommendation is one you can implement with the people and resources you already have. Then we stay to help see the work through to completion.

How We Work

Healthcare moves too fast for five-year plans

Instead of a three-to-five-year strategic planning exercise, we help leaders zero in on a few meaningful priorities with the greatest impact. Then we focus on the most important part: implementation.

  1. Align on focused prioritiesWe work with leadership to pick clearly defined, high-impact opportunities.
  2. Supplement your teamOur advisors add expertise and capacity where you need it most.
  3. Execute to completionWe stay engaged, remove barriers, and track results until the goals are met.
